Intention to change..Make those lifestyle changes!!

How many of us have stuck to our new years resolutions??

If you havent, its not a problem, why not make a new one or try your previous goal, as this can be done at anytime of the year..we’ve just got into the habit of doing it in January, but September is just as good - especially as it is after the summer/holidays and we probably all ate a little too much!

Whatever your goals are this year, you’ll have a better chance of achieving them if you give it 100 per cent. It is incredibly important to have commitment and then recommit these goals every morning despite how we feel. One of the really important things about goals and how to make them happen is choosing the ‘team’ of people who are around you. This can be your family, friends, or partner but you know yourself who motivates and encourages you to push that little bit harder on tough days! Don’t involve people who have a negative effect that get you to do the things that you know arent right for you.

The key to succeeding is to know what success is for you!

Changing habits of a lifetime takes thought, focus and willpower. The good news is that once you’re set up in your positive actions and practise them, these too become habits.

Ways to make change:

1.Keep it real -
Set yourself challenging but realistic goals. Theres nothing worse than getting halfway there and then realising you’re never going to make it. This can set you back and put you off setting any other types of goals.

2.Develop the 'doing' habit -
When we feel we are doing our best we feel pride, but when we feel that we have no sense of purpose we feel apathetic. For one day, STOP putting things off, making excuses, moaning about your life and focusing on what you dont want or havent got and instead START setting yourself one positive goal for the day and take action to achieve it. Make it realistic but meaningful goal that will require some effort and add some value to your life, such as, joining a gym, go along to a fitness class, sorting out paper work or phone calls you have been putting off or solving a problem that has not yet been solved.

3.Say it Loud -
Nothing is stronger than the power of repetition. Stand in front of a mirror and repeat your goal, using positive language every day, twice a day. Use words such as ‘I will’ and ‘I can’. You will notice how your self confidence increases! Tell a number of people what your goals are, this way you are more than likely to stick to them as you want to prove to them you can reach those goals, for example, telling people you are going to lose weight you are thinking you have to do it to afford failure! Give it a try…..Tell loved ones and friends what you plan to do and when you plan to do it and you will be amazed how well you stick to it to prove to them.

4.If at first you dont succeed -
If at first you dont succeed - try it another way!! If it didnt work the first time there is a very good reason. Address this and its much easier to move on!

MAKE THIS YOUR OLYMPIC YEAR, THE YEAR YOU ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS!!

Have a happy goal setting Thursday everyone :D
